In August 2024, the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) has
decreased by 0.5 per cent year-on-year, from 107.1 in August 2023 to 106.5. The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index registered an increase of 0.1 per cent, while the Non-Food index decreased by 0.6 per cent. Meanwhile, the Goods index and Services index recorded a decrease of 0.6 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively.
Compared to July 2024, the CPI has
increased by 0.3 per cent on a month-on-month basis. The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index and Non-Food index registered a decrease of 0.3 per cent, while the Non-Food index increased by 0.4 per cent.
Periodically, the CPI for January to August 2024 recorded a
decrease of 0.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
