The 1-2-Compare is a price comparison feature in Penggunabijak that allows consumers to compare prices and choices of key groceries across retailers to find the best deal, before making a purchase.
Over 180 products across retail stores are available in this feature.
The items are selected based on the spending pattern obtained from the Brunei Darussalam Household Expenditure Survey. The list includes items such as butter and margarine, canned preserved food, fresh chicken and eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, beverages, noodles, flour, onions, powdered infant milk, cooking oil, sauces, infant diapers, detergents and others.
Participating outlets voluntarily submit the list of prices of goods on a monthly basis.
The Department does not control the prices of all the goods listed under this feature except for cooking oil, powdered infant milk and other selected food items during festive seasons. The prices of other goods are set by the businesses themselves without government intervention. This is based on the basic economic principles that businesses should compete to win their customers by providing the best deal. This feature enhances information transparency and encourages consumers to make comparison of prices and choices available in the major stores, before making any purchases.
