Complaints under the CAD’s jurisdiction
The ​CAD accepts complaints against unfair practices involving business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions in Brunei Darussalam. Consumer refers to individual who purchase goods/services for personal consumption and not for commercial purposes. In order to support your complaint, it is important for you to have your documents and evidence ready such as sale receipts/warranties/contracts before lodging your complaint.

Excluded transactions
         i)    Purchase of immovable property;
         ii)   Employment contract;
         iii)  Financial disputes;
         iv)  Transactions involving business-to-business (B2B);
          v)  International transactions involving overseas companies; or
         vi)  Any transaction or activity that is already under the scope of other regulations or regulatory agencies in Brunei.
​​Thus, the CAD may refer consumers to other relevant regulatory agencies to help if their complaints does not fall within the CAD’s scope, or advice consumers to directly file their claims through the Small Claims Tribunal, provided that the amount of claims do not exceed BND $10,000.
