On the 20th October 2025, The Department of Statistics held a special dialogue session in commemoration of World Statistics Day 2025. Celebrated every 5 years, the dialogue aims to highlight the important role of high-quality statistics in supporting national development in the final decade towards Wawasan Brunei 2035.
The dialogue features officers from the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS), Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS). Key areas covered in the talk were the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Inflation, Price Monitoring, Labour Force Indicators, and the complementary role of administrative data.
A key takeaway from the dialogue session was that quality statistics are a shared responsibility between different agencies, organisations and the public, requiring collaboration, innovation and trust.
