Small Claims Tribunal

The Small Claims Tribunal provides a quick and low costs forum for resolving small claims between buyers and sellers of sum not exceeding B$10,000.

Consumers wishing to make a claim through the Small Claims Tribunal must file their claims within one (1) year from the date the cause of action accrued.

Type of claims that can be heard in the Small Claims Tribunal (SCT) include those arising from:

1. Sale of goods
2. Provision of services
3. Damage of property
4. Transactions under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act

​Claims are commenced by completing a form with the SCT upon payment of a prescribed fee as follows:​​​

Not Exceeding B$5,000 Exceeding B$5,000
(but not more than B$10,000)​
Consumer ​B$10.00 B​$20.00
Non-Consumer ​B$50.00 ​B$100.00
