Priced Controlled Goods
There are 11 items listed in the Act as regulated goods, including essential and subsidized items. Specifically, they are as follows:
1. Rice (acquired and supplied by the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance and Economy)
2. Sugar (acquired and supplied by the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance and Economy)
3. Formulated powdered milk (for infants to 6 years of age)
4. Motor Gasoline, RON 97
5. Motor Gasoline, RON 92
6. Motor Gasoline, RON 88
7. Automotive gas oil, Diesel
8. Kerosene
9. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
10. Cooking oils (canola, corn, palm, vegetables, sunflower and soya bean)”.
11. Passenger motor vehicles
All items are regulated through price controls, except for passenger motor vehicles, which are regulated through continuous monitoring of their prices.
Price controlled goods must not be sold above the prescribed maximum prices. Formulated powdered milk and cooking oil prices are set by the Department. Rice, sugar and energy products are subsidized items. The list of maximum prices are as follows:
1. Formulated powdered milk
2. Cooking oil
3. Others – rice, sugar, energy products
Businesses intending to sell cooking oil and formulated powdered milk must submit an application to the Department before selling the goods to the public. Applications should be submitted to kawalanharga@jpes.gov.bn. Alternatively, businesses may submit applications to Level 4, Tower Block, Ministry of Finance and Economy Building.
